His one-to-one sessions are geared towards the wants & needs of the individual(s) in the class. In the first session you will explore what you want to achieve and set out some ways to do that. He works at a pace dictated by the student, never hurrying or rushing them, but, simultaneously, his work as a director means he’s also strong at working to a deadline.
He specialises in working with text, and has had success working with drama school applicants on monologues. He has a great strength in breaking down intimidating texts such as Shakespeare, Restoration, Greek or other classical texts and more modern classics such as Chekhov, Ibsen, Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller etc.
Acting Technique – Build your actors toolbox. From technical skills to unleashing your imagination, work with Luke to uncover what works for you as an actor and begin to construct your own process. Learn techniques from practitioners ranging from Stanislavsky and Strasberg to Uta Hagen and Stella Adler, with some Rutter and Godber thrown in for good measure.
Audition Technique – Work through the casting process to identify your strengths and iron out your weaknesses in the audition room.
Playwriting – From the first time writer to the more advanced, working through what it takes to complete a compelling play for stage or screen. Reading and discussing the works of other writers and working through the creation of plot, character, setting and more to enable the student to write their own piece.
Public Speaking – Uncover the potential in your voice, build your confidence and learn to deliver your speech at its most effective. Learn from the techniques of voice practitioners such as Cicely Berry, Kristin Linklater, Roy Hart and Patsy Rodenburg
